Hold Very Still

Keeper Cornelius Fix · Portraitist to the Recently Still

Smile for the nice man, contestant. Hold it for a count of ten and you get to hold it forever.

OBJECTIVE
Get out through the darkroom door beside the photographer.
That door is bolted against daylight, and Cornelius is bolted against company. Whatever you do in front of that lens, do not do it still.

THE SHOWRUNNER

Good morning, contestants, and welcome to Hold Very Still. Cornelius would like you to smile for the camera, and he would like you to do it for a count of ten, so please don't make him count twice. Try not to blink, because the flash is very expensive and nobody has ever once been compensated for it.

The day before reached prime time, so the sponsors stepped in: +1 on every check that day, for everyone.

THE ROOM REMEMBERS
  • Cornelius swept up for closing and dragged the rolled backdrop out from under the posing chair. The seaside lies unrolled across the floor, pole loose. He keeps tripping over the beach.
  • Cornelius has rolled up the seaside backdrop and wedged it under the posing chair.
  • Cornelius now sulks under the camera's black cloth and only hears lighting directions.
  • Cornelius has swung the camera round to face the darkroom door. Loiterers get portraits.
  • Cornelius has hung the blind's tassel on the curtain rail, well out of reach.
